Geratherm SOS-Vacutherm blanket warming system
Hypothermia prevention and the stabilization of the patient´s body at the accident
site is easily achievable as the result of an actively heated vacuum mattress.
Stabilization and Hypothermia-Prevention
Vacuum mattresses are widely used in the rescue and lifesaving fields due to their
outstanding features in stabilizing a patient´s body if spinal cord injuries or bone fractures
are suspected. Geratherm has developed this tried and tested aid even further and
perfected it. By integrating an active heat element, the threat of hypothermia is prevented both at the accident site and
during transportation to a hospital.
The SOS-Vacutherm is simple to use. The vacuum mattress allows the patient´s body to be stabilized so that any
movement is impossible, pain is eased and any further injuries are prevented whilst in the ambulance.
Optimal Temperature Control
The built-in heat segment can be warmed up to two different temperatures, 37 °C or 42°C. If the patient´s temperature
is stable, a level of 37 °C is adequate to maintain the body temperature level. If the patient temperature is below normal
it is recommended to set the level in the heat segment on 42 °C, in order to warm the patient up to normal temperature.
High-Tech Material for the Rescue Field
The heat segment in the Geratherm Rescue Warming System is based on a special carbon fibre technology, which was
originally developed for use in space. This material can particularly withstand a great deal of pressure, it is tear-resistant
and light. Its continuous use in extreme situations has been tested. The system can be used anywhere, not only in sea,
air, mountain and road accident rescue operations, but also for disaster protection or during military operations.
